Louisiana being both “sailors” and “courteous” makes sense.
Among my friends, being pro-LGBTQ and against racism, sexism, trans*phobia or homophobia or just taking any oppression into account any deeper than just stating that you are against oppression is actually considered a unique trait, and the context of the word “unique” could go either way. It’s like you could add it to your list of things you do.
Like “well, I skateboard, I like karate movies, I’m not a racist/sexist/homophobe/transphobe and I like coffee”.
How am I supposed to feel about that? .
p.s. this isn’t a “cishet feels oppressed” post, it’s an “I love my friends but they say/do really dumb shit and sometimes they don’t even realize it, what gives?” post.(Source: rhymesayers)
The funny part about my experience with clinical depression is that it makes it way too hard to love yourself enough to speak up about people’s shameless misuse of the names of various mental disorders as a part of their everyday language which points out and perpetuates misconceptions and stereotypes.
Oh wait that wasn’t actually funny.
